Cristóvam was born amongst the deep blue of the Atlantic and the lush green of the beautiful Azores, Portugal.
He is the grandson of a true radio pioneer who left behind a massive record collection and a big pile of radio paraphernalia.
While kids his age were listening to their music in CD players, he was listening to 7" singles on his fathers old jukebox. The likes of Supertramp, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, among many other greats, would spin on that old jukebox, creating landscapes in his young mind, a refuge from the world outside and a portal to a world of his own. A passion grew inside of him, which eventually led him to wanting to start writing songs of his own.
His music is Azorean at heart, with Americana overtones.
Cristóvam has won several songwriting contests (Vodafone One's to Watch Portugal, LabJovem, AngraRock).
In 2015 he started writing and recording his debut album Hopes & Dreams at the legendary Namouche studios in Lisbon.
One year later, Cristóvam released his first antecipation single “Walk in the Rain”. The single was featured in portuguese blockbuster A Canção de Lisboa.
His next single “Faith & Wine” would hit number 1 in the Itunes Singer-Songwriter charts for Portugal. Shortly after, that same song was awarded with a 1st prize at the International Songwriting Competition: a worldwide songwriting competition with over 16000 song year submissions and a judge panel featuring the likes of Tom Waits, Keane, Bastille, Lorde, among many others.
His debut album Hopes & Dreams was released on 28 September 2018. Since then, Cristóvam has played more then 30 shows in 5 different countries, sharing stages with Stu Larsen & Natsuki Kurai in part of their European tour, as well as Scott Matthews on his Portuguese tour.
